Free Network Visible Network is a data-visualisation work which allows the public to view normally invisible information as it crosses a wireless network.
The data is represented as colourful virtual objects which the public can tag by using customised software and interact with in playful ways. These virtual objects change their shape, size and colour to reveal the different characteristics of the information that is circulating in the network.
Cutting-edge technologies are used in Free Network Visible Network to augment reality and alter perceptions of the landscape and public space. The work continually evolves as new interactions occur and the results are projected back into the gallery space.
Clara Boj and Diego Díaz have worked together since 2000. Jointly they constitute what they call ’lalalab’ (lalalab.org), a displaced and nomadic laboratory for artistic creation and research. Their work mainly focuses on the transformation of public space by new communication technologies.
Their installations, videos and plastic research in the field of new technologies have won numerous awards and they have participated in exhibitions and festivals internationally. Recent exhibitions include: Interactive City ISEA06 (San Jose, USA), Digital Paradise (Daejeon, South Korea), Contemporània (EACC, Castelló, Spain).
