A qualified Graphic Designer and Illustrator from the School of Arts in Oviedo, he furthered his education with several courses and seminars. His art production runs parallel to his work in graphic design. Focused on the creation of installations, for which he uses various audiovisual media and optical fibre, his work succeeds in conveying the complex cross-contamination of life and art, as well as the existing links between that contamination and scientific development
The road, the route, the passage as a metaphor of life, of communication and of knowledge, is the central idea around which Pablo Armesto has articulated his most recent work. The media used for the artistic rendition of the concept that is the true driving force of his production has always attempted to provide a clear-cut expression covering the complexity and the range of some philosophical and theological arguments he summarised in pieces possessing a mysticism exploring the nature of light and the flame that lights our destiny.
In Paso a Paso (Step by Step) the road is the print left on a landscape loaded with magical, spiritual and religious connotations, connecting with key historical events. In Covadonga, travellers find themselves at a crossroad in which nature and divinity converge. They are pilgrims in search of answers to disentangle the mysteries of life from a devotional image that has transformed this place into a sanctuary.
The traces are votive offerings, holy fires perpetuating the memory of all those for whom the quest, the yearning for an encounter continues to be the sole form of energy capable of making them travel this endless route.
