The Art Centre steps out of its headquarters in Gijon to directly involve itself with local artists and show its commitment with the region.
With Extensions-Anchors, the laboral Art and Industrial Creation Centre will get in touch with its immediate environment and in so doing foster new audiences for art. The exhibition project extends throughout 14 localities in the region with interventions on view to local citizens and visitors, the target public and focus of this project.
The exhibitions, divided into two phases, each one with the intervention of seven artists, will help create unprecedented artistic circuits in the region, all of them outside traditional urban centres, a form of local anchoring based on open dialogue and a proximate presence. The Centre wants this to be seen as a statement of intent of its mission to offer a service to the region.
