The Board of Patrons of the Fundación La Laboral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial agreed in its last meeting to reduce the general ticket price for visiting the Centre. Accordingly, the entrance fee for the general public has dropped to two euros, compared to five euros which it cost until last December 31st.

This measure has been applicable since yesterday, January 2nd, and was agreed upon in the meeting held by the highest governing body of the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation last December 21st. Its goal is to make it easier for the public to access the exhibitions and visit the space at a time when the economic crisis affects the purchasing power of potential users of LABoral.

The people in charge of LABoral are negotiating with Gijón City Council to also provide free entry to the Art Centre for all those people holding a Gijón City Card. In addition, admission will continue to be free of charge for Friends of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, children under the age of 10, the accredited press, members of ICOM, and those of Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo-IAC [Contemporary Art Institute] and Asociaciones de Artistas Visuales [Associations of Visual Artists]. Also, the free entrance opportunity every Wednesday in the year and on 18th May (International Muesum Day) remains unchanged.

Free Guided Visits

Throughout 2012 LABoral will maintain its programme of guided visits to the exhibitions at no cost. All visitors to the Art Centre can register for these when buying their admission ticket and participate in this activity through which the mediation team provides for visitors the keys towards a better understanding of the works being shown.

The guided tours of all the exhibitions take place on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 12.30 pm, 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm, while on Saturday and Sunday they are held at 1 pm and 6 pm.

Similarly, and as part of the activities aimed at the school public, the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation in Gijón offers visit-workshops connected to the Estación experimental [Experimental Station] exhibition for school children from Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools. The activity includes a 45-minute tour which has been adapted for the exhibition and a workshop of the same duration which is aimed at encouraging the participation of the students and activating their creative skills.
