LABoral will present the project by ecoLAB at an event taking place tomorrow, Friday 18 November at 7 pm, at the Cristina Enea Foundation in San Sebastian. Lorena Lozano, one of the most active participants in this project developed by Plataforma Cero -the Production Centre of the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation in Gijón- will be the person responsible for informing the public on all the activities that have been carried out at LABoral’s Patio Sur, as well as on the philosophy of this meeting point for research and experimentation in the intersections of open electronics, art and ecology.

This presentation is framed within the LandArea project, promoted by the Cristina Enea Foundation and Tabakalera-Arteleku, a proposal for collaboration which seeks to "encourage reflection on the relations that arise among technology, the environment and life". LandArea includes two conferences (on 18 November and 2 January), a workshop (on 16, 17 and 18 November) and an exhibition which was inaugurated last Monday at the Cristina Enea Environmental Resource Centre, and open until 23 February.

As outlined by the director of the Cristina Enea Foundation, Txema Hernández, LandArea aims to become "a (re)-union point for people concerned about the ways of applying technologies to our  daily lives, what the function of this application is and the interactions it can generate in nature. For this, the figure of the orchard, or more specifically, the urban orchard, will be used".

Along with Lorena Lozano, Hernani Díaz will present refarm the city (http://refarmthecity.org ), a project developed during a workshop and an artistic residency at LABoral, in which work has been carried out on the design of a tool kit for digital  farmers and educators. At LABoral on 21 November, at 6.30 pm, Hernani Díaz will give an update on her progress in an open session with the public.

Session open to the public, Ecoworkshops and ‘U-topicks?’

On Saturday 26 November, starting at 11 am, the ecoLAB working group will hold its last session for this year which will be open to the public at the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation.

Additionally, on Saturday 3 December, starting at 10.30 am, an Ecoworkshops meeting will be held in the “non-garden” at LABoral’s Patio Sur. This activity fits within the Vivir experiencias [Living Experiences] project by Gaia and Sophia, which has been developed as part of the ecoLAB exhibit which is open until 5 December and is aimed at creating the space and necessary processes that foster the creation of links, networks and relationships among the participants.

Between 7 December of this year and 9 January of the next one, the U-topiks? project by Rubén Suárez and Marianna Nieddu will also be shown at the LABoral’s Almacén Sur (South Warehouse), which under the theme, "Realities and fictions on a rural-urban connection", analyses the fractures that have been produced over the last two centuries in the country-city relationship. Based on this, utopias, dystopias and realities are raise in a process-based game that speaks of the reconnection and hybridization of places from artistic, recreational, cultural and technological perspectives.

The exhibition creates an interactive tour analysing country-city relationships and goes from concepts of “no-place” to “good place” and invites the visitor to understand, propose and re-think rural and urban realities. This project is completed with a workshop which will be held on 7 January 2012.
