LABoral holds a new session of its Design Market this weekend with free access

A view of the last session of LABoral's Design Market

This weekend LABoral will hold a new session of its design market with the participation of 41 Asturian designers. The market will be open in the lobby and main hall of the art centre from 12 noon to 10 pm on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th April.  Entrance will be free and the public will also be able to visit the exhibitions currently being shown at LABoral.

Since December 2008 the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial has been holding this event which is well received by Asturians.  The market was conceived as a space that is open to creativity and which presents the work being developed by designers working in Asturias.

As in every edition, visitors will have the opportunity to see and buy clothes, accessories and items for home décor. LABoral also puts up for sale publications, exhibition catalogues, specialised magazines and art objects at a reduced price.   This Saturday’s session will be provided with entertainment by mariBel&Sebastian from 7 pm onwards.

On both Saturday and Sunday, everyone visiting the Centro de Arte will have free access to the exhibitions on show at LABoral. These are datamatics. data.tecture [5 SXGA+ version], a project specifically adapted for the monumental character of the Projects Room with which the Japanese artist and musician Ryoji Ikeda offers the visitor a totally immersive and sensorial experience; Visualizar el sonido [Visualising Sound], an exhibition exploring the synthesis between image and sound, the different graphical and physical representations of sound and its evolution in the context of contemporary art; Danza infinita [Infinite Dance], a work by Lorena Lozano selected in the 2011 open call for Production Grants by the Projects Office, in which the artist explores how biological sciences relentlessly pursue immortality and the transcendence of death. Also open to the public will be (ende), a documentary series by Luis Argeo and Ramón Lluís Bande that was born out of a journey, a road map through the south-west of Asturias; and Narrativas espaciales [Spatial Narratives] which draws together the results from a workshop held at the beginning of November in which writers, digital developers and sound artists met up at LABoral to work on locative audio projects.
